Before becoming a blogger, I had zero trust with myself making it to the blogging world. With thousands of bloggers already working their way up and around, what can I offer that will make myself standout?
Q1 of 2016, my girlfriend and I just broke up and I had so much time that I finally reconsidered blogging. I was pretty sure then that I want to focus on food because cooking has always been my passion since I was 10 years old. My next challenge was to come up with a catchy name that will be easy to remember. One day, I got lucky catching up with a good friend (Gino) who helped me with the brand name Chefbuano (Thanks again, Gino!).
How did I launch my brand? This will be the first time that I will be sharing this to everyone. I was invited to Café Amicus’ grand opening and I had no clue that it was an event full of bloggers! The event went smoothly, got to meet a couple of bloggers, and friends that are blogging too. Until the emcee, announced that I’m also a blogger and they were asking questions about my blog. I told them that my blog will be up soon and they should visit http://www.chefbuano.com. I had no idea what I was saying at that moment because I haven’t even started my website! haha So the moment I got home, I purchased my domain and slowly built my website on my own with zero background in creating a website.
Next, my friend Margaux, recommended me to Cebu Bloggers Society. CBS is a premier blogging organization and had no idea then that a blogging organization even existed! Was lucky enough to get accepted even with zero blogging experience (Thank you, CBS!). My first CBS event was the Batman vs Superman movie premier sponsored by Smart Communications and I was very excited to meet everyone. I met a lot of CBS members including Mark Monta and had no idea he was the founder at that time too (I was totally innocent with the blogging world! Haha).
My biggest break on my first year in the blogging world was having my mojito cocktail featured at the Cebu City Marriot Hotel complete with a full video edit made by Seph. 2017 was even a better year with multiple collaborations from popular food, lifestyle & travel brands from Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, Montebello Villa Hotel, Landers Superstore, Viento Del Mar Siargao, and Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa . Fast forward 2018, thinking this year could not get any better. My biggest break as a blogger was being able to be featured with AirAsia’s Chasing Wonders Campaign and had 3 food episodes with ABS-CBN’s MagTV Na.
Q4 of 2018 was even better! I got nominated at the 11th Best Cebu Blog Awards under the food category. I was not expecting any nomination because I still consider myself a newbie in the blogging world. This nomination is an achievement and I would not even reach this far without the help of Cebu Bloggers Society from the start.
I am truly blessed from the beginning and I would like to thank all the brands who trusted Chefbuano and for the continuous collaboration up until this very day.
The 11th Best Cebu Blog Awards is happening on December 2, 2018 and will be held at Bai Hotel Cebu. The following awards will b given to the deserving bloggers:
