Celebrating the Lunar Year at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu couldn’t be more beautiful . The hotel’s beautiful lobby setup, the spectacular opening ceremony and the best Chinese buffet spread in town that makes you want to spend Chinese New Year at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu year after year.

As we welcome the year of the Earth Dog, the dog is a symbol of intelligence and protection. It occupies the eleventh position in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.

In keeping up with the Marco Polo tradition, the opening ceremony started with minutes of non-stop firecracker and fireworks display at the main entrance to kick off the event. Followed by the traditional dragon dance, the eye dotting ceremony,  the tossing of coins (I made sure I got 8 coins for luck), and the Yee Sang Ceremony towards the end. The Yee Sang Ceremony also known as the Prosperity Toss is said that the higher you toss the salad up in the air, more luck will head your way.

Make sure to visit Cafe Marco before January 18, 2018 as they highlight the Culinary Impressions of China. Even without the additional spread of delicious Chinese food on top of their international buffet selection, Cafe Marco’s Chinese section is already my favorite and the freshly baked Malicious cookies too (hmmmmmm!).
